By: Mikey PesquedaIf you are reading this then more than likely you already know what social distancing is and that our world has been asked to social distance themselves from others for their own health. I want to discuss a different kind of social distancing in this blog though. Are you social distancing yourselves from God? All our lives have changed more over the last two months than we were ready for and amidst all the change have you found yourself distancing from God. All We Have is Time
We have had to change hobbies, habits, and preferences due to the Coronavirus and it has been easy for us to lose our time with the Lord. Church has been online for months and if you are like most people then you probably watched it on your own time. What most people have realized about themselves is that we have broken from our normal routines. Which can be good and bad. Good because it caused us to remember what is important and bad because for some reading God’s Word was apart of that routine. So now we have more time then ever and still neglect reading His Word. Christians, we need to be faithfully seeking God and growing in Christlikeness. Coronavirus maybe interrupting your routine but it has not interrupted the call that Christ has put on your life. For some of us we have unintentionally social distanced ourselves from God and it’s time to come back to Him. Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinner, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2) I have always loved this passage. I have sought to make my delight be in the law of the Lord. I think the implications of the man who doesn’t meditate on the Word or delight in the law of the Lord is that they can become the man who walks in the counsel of the wicked. How easily is it to fall into sin while we wander like the Israelites in the wilderness? Seeking the Lord and meditating on His Word is the call for Christians and it is how we fight sin. It’s time to come back Christians. It’s time to come back to the Word and it’s time to come back to the Lord for those who have wandered during this time. Make the law of the Lord your delight!
